Geneva Academy of International Humanitarian Law and Human Rights

The Academy is in cooperation with the University of Geneva, the Graduate Institute of International Studies (HEI), the University of Lausanne, the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), the United Nations' High Commissioner for Human Rights (UNHCHR) and the Swiss Federal Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA). The Geneva Academy of International Humanitarian Law and Human Rights aims to provide high quality instruction in French and in English, conduct and promote scientific research, organize training courses and expert meetings and provide legal expertise in the branches of international law relating to situations of armed conflicts.

Tuition Fees

Tuition fees for the MAS in International Humanitarian Law amount to CHF 16,000, including university taxes (Approx. € 10,500).

The Program

The Academy offers a Master in International Humanitarian Law specializing in the international law pertaining to situations of armed conflict and states of emergency: International Humanitarian Law, International Law regarding the Use of Force and Peacekeeping, International Human Rights Law, International Criminal Law and Refugee Law
The course is full-time.

Entry Requirements

Applicants must have a degree in law, a master in law or another academic qualification regarded as comparable, by the MAS Admissions Committee. The degree must be issued by a Swiss university or another university which is recognized by the Academy and the University of Geneva.

Applicants must have substantial proficiency in the language of the selected program (English or French)--including comprehension, oral expression and the writing of papers, examinations and a master’s thesis.
